Sheldon Field19.12 acres including Sheldon Field and adjoining farmland parcels donated by the Kielec and Jasinski families

One of the first families (~1640) in Northampton were the Sheldon’s. They owned farm land adjacent to Bridge Street. When the family left farming, they allowed the land to be used by the City as a playground. Over the years it became known as Sheldon Field. In 2000, Edward Sheldon III deeded the land to the City with a Conservation Restriction (CR). Since the land is in Ward 3 the City asked W3NA to take over the existing CR. To do this W3NA members formed the necessary non-profit corporation called the Meadow City Conservation Coalition (MCCC). In July 2013 they obtained the CR for Sheldon Field. As MCCC grew it acquired the CRs for six other City parcels totaling over 40 acres in the Meadows or along the CT River. These parcels include playgrounds, nature trails and farming. This conservation land is special asset to Ward 3 and the City.
